Sounds good so far. For food, buy a pair of convicts for a few bucks. :D

Sit back and relax your bass will heal up give it a few days! Your doing all the right things!

I'd go with bloodworms myself, I prefer to feed my fish frozen/prepared foods. I don't like live because of the risk of disease and the fact that its a pain having to go buy live.

They'll heal in no time, if it were me I'd feed feeders till they hit around the 8" mark..

I think what people feed their cichla is a personal thing...some like to feed live...some like to feed prepared.

I have ALWAYS grown my cichla up on prepared food. I really don't see the point in live food as anything more than an occasional thing to be honest.

Feeding prepared lowers the risk of disease greatly...and providing that you feed quality prepared food...your cichla will never know what they are missing out on.

How big are your cichla?

I feed live till they hit 8" simply for the growth and colours that the cichla get plus if you try to wean them off live food at a young size you may end up starving them for days which is bad for the fish's health..

agreed.
that being said however,i being a student dont have time to constantly buy feeders.
ive gotten most cichla off live easily with tiny pieces of shrimp.
