Anything that fits in their mouths. And define CLEAN...lol

Live foods. and NO.... NOT clean.

They don't need live food. I have mine on freez-dried shrimp and frozen bloodworms. I think they're spoiled on it because they won't take pellets.

They prefer to feed on live...but can be trained to take prepared.

Mine has been very difficult. I have left him as long as 10 days without feeders and he stubbornly refuses to take shrimp, worms, or anything else. Once a feeder hits the water, he devours it. I have even tied dead fresh anchovies to fishing line to simulate movement and he wont touch them.

I guess it depends on the fish I have seen them eating freeze dried shrimp before they ever got live stuff to try, I bet they would prefer live if it is possible?

Mine eats frozen silversides, market shrimp cut up and soaked in Vita-Chem, and live earthworms mostly. Once in a while as a treat, live Danios. I don't want the fish to get spoiled on feeders. Mine won't even look at a pellet, or anything that's freeze dried.
