i have a 55g demasoni / yellow lab tank that also houses a male hybrid peacock. over time ive tryed adding a male ruby red into the tank but the hybrid always attacks it. today while doing a water change i added the ruby again but the same thing happond so i took out the hybrid and put him in a diff tank. how long do u think i should wait before trying to put the hybrid back without any fightn

I would recommend re-aquascaping the tank when adding a new fish. It might help to break those territorial boundaries that have already been established.

I agree with all of it together. Chiclids need double filtering, Water movement, Overcrowded and all males to keep aggression down. If you have a female in the tank when she begins the spawn cycle the males are going to compete for her, you can not stop this.

Back to the question....Like mike said a week and like poppalina said add 4 peacocks. Also having high decor will break the line of sight and allow sub doms to hide. Plenty of caves for hiding, min. one per fish.

Just MHO and what I have had work for me here.

Thanks Mike
