I thought I had an all male tank, they’re all still pretty young, but this one appears to be holding, what do you think?

  • Wow

Definitely looks like it could be. The "chewing" motion is usually them tumbling the eggs. The lack of egg spots on the anal fin is an indicator too. If the fish isn't eating then I'd say its probably holding.
That’s what I was thinking, thanks for confirming, I’ve just never had one breed that young before, she’s still under 2”

Lol women are just breeding younger and younger these days, jk. Jokes aside tho that is extremely small to breed imo, any idea if she just happens to be a runt?

Haha, true,
I don’t think she’s a runt, I bought all these together and her growth is about the same as the rest, there’s about 4 that have grown a little quicker, an iceberg fryeri, dragon blood and OB and Taiwan reef, they’re about 3”, the rest are about 2” or slightly under, she is the third smallest of the bunch tho

Huh, must be just and early bloomer then. The ones I had showed no breeding behavior until the females were atleast 4in. Granted that's the size I got them at so they probably bred before when the previous owner had them. Sadly don't have any anymore. Made allot of stupid mistakes back then so you could probably guess what all happened, this was roughly 5 years ago btw.

Lol we’ve all made stupid mistakes in this hobby, that’s how we learn. I tried keeping tropheus with haps once. Bloat city. The fyeri was showing breeding colors, so I’m guessing he’s the culprit

Lol yeah he looks to be the culprit most likely. Seems pretty active atleast so ya know he's feeling good.

Yeah the mistake I did that did all mine is was I ended up cleaning the filters a lil too well and basically press the reset button on the cycling process. Least to say it sucked watching an entire tank of fish just die infront ya within just minutes.

Ouch! That sounds like it sucked. I did the same thing when I first got into the hobby. I bought a canister filter without knowing how filters worked just because it was big, so it must be better. When it got dirty I replaced ALL the media. I didn’t lose anything, but the new cycle must of stressed the hell out of them cuz I had an ich outbreak shortly after.

I just took a measurement and she’s actually about 2.25 “, I’m bad at eyeball measurements
