I got a new peacock cichlid to my 55 gallon tank, I had 2 convicts and 2 jack dempseys for months? My new peacock is afraid and gets picked on by any cichlid, even the convicts, who are smaller. Is it normal, or is there a problem?

The problem is that the other Cichlids have already established individual territory so they will continue to chase, harrass, or possibly kill the Peacock. You may have to rearrange things but still that doesn't always work.

My peacocks, tend to be shy, not sure with the African and American mix. Jack's are mean.
My lake Malawi peacocks, mbuna mix, mbuna are bottom fish, peacocks are mid water, so they have different habitats.

Bad mix of fish, your peacock will most likely get shredded over time.
