So I picked up a red peacock cichlid a few days ago. I know they are African, but is it Rift Lake or Riverine & Magagascar?

Also does anyone have any pics of a large one, this one is about 1.5". I am just curious what they look like full grown.

Has anyone kept a few of these together? I am wondering how aggressive they are. Looking online I saw that there are Albino, Red, Blue, Yellow, and Orange Blossom. I think a few of these in the same tank would be pretty cool. It also said they get to 6" full grown, anyone know if that is true or do they get bigger?

Right now he is in with what I beleive to be a jewel, from what I was told on here. No aggression between them at all so far. Anyone know how compatability would be with a bumblebee?

Anybody?

you should get the cockatoo cichlid, tiny and so beautifull!!!

it is a malawian it will not get color for a long time if its with aggressive species jewels are pretty aggressive when they get older and peacocks are not aggressive at all but to the same species and with a smaller tank you can keep 5-6 of these fish in an 100 gal with 3-4 females to each it will be a great fish when it gets its color they get approximately 6 inches and are amazing fish bumblebees are not a good tank mate unless they peacock is alot bigger and can keep his terratory my flametail Ngara did not get his color until about 5inches due to Mbuna in my tank it all depends on terratory, tank size and tank mates i suggest you buy females for him if you have a specialty shop where you live they sometimes have sales b/c the females dont sell if you are looking for a great tank a full tank of ONLY peacocks is advisable they can have submissive coloring if they are constantly attacked for terratory check out my o.b he is so aggressive i cant put him into a 100gal with pretty aggro Mbuna i suggest getting rid of the jewel it is a bad specimen but thats my opinion also the peacock will do amazing in a PH of 8.0-9.0 and fed New life spectrum cichlid formula only feed them high quality foods for better health and color if you are able to get more peacocks with females they will breed like crazy when the PH is high i believe there is an aquarium adventure superstore where you live check their site out and visit

Looks like Eureka/Ruben red. Can you post more pictures, or even a little video. Aulonocara (Peacock species) are endemic to Lake Malawi. Some, like Ruben red are man made strains through selective breeding.
