Peacock cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say about 4 inches right now. If im not mistaken i think i can get another 2 inches out of him

It is a very nice looking fish. Do you mind me asking if it is a new pick up?
I am not an expert on Peacocks but I have not seen that coloration before. Since you are asking about it I am going to guess that it was not purchased using a scientific name? If that is the case might it be some sort of hybrid?

Yes my local fish store had it and when I saw the color I was like i have to get this fish! Yea maybe a hybrid? I guess

Being a new purchase I wonder if it is not a fish that has been treated by hormones. We have a local store that every peacock I have seen purchased has lost a significant amount of color in the weeks following purchase. I believe there are some threads on here in regards to this practice.
hopefullyyours does not lose the color.

Yes I hope not but I will keep you updated, i bought him on 6/29/2020. So in 1 week, it would be 2 months that I had him. You think he would have lost his color by now? Honestly it looks like the color looks brighter and better now. I feed him massivore delight.

I believe the commercial name of the pictured Peacock is "German Red".
This pic is of a German Red that I kept for several years, until he was recently murdered by an unidentified tankmate.
