I just got myself a lovely little 7" Peacock Eel yesterday, and now I'm wondering if it wouldn't be happier with a buddy? It just seemed so, I don't know, bewildered lol! They have so much personality in those little faces!

Just wondering if they do better in groups or are they fine alone?

everything ive always read is that all spiny eels prefer to be single, but i keep several together in all my tanks and i only have two that bicker. its funny, they always fight for the same hiding spot but then they seem so cozy both always in the exact same spot. my peacocks were very outgoing at first but now they are always hiding in the sand, they almost never come out. id say go for ti and try to get another to share the tank. you might have to pick one later on if they get fiesty when they mature. ive not encountered this yet but im prepared to split some up if need be. ive heard fire eels seem to be the most aggressive towards other of the same species. generally peacocks are a bit more friendly but thats just what ive encountered. i can naver stop at one, thats why i have 19

they would be fine alone..i got a 9'' peacock eel and shes so energetic..she likes to hangout with my bichirs
