I had a very large female peackock eel I bought at Petsmart. Well a few weeks later I saw a few small eels that were about 2 inches in length. I have never heard of someone breeding eels in captivity, has anyone been able to?

While I don't think you have done the impossible, it certainly isn't common. Congrats.

Have you tried feeding them yet?

These two inch eels are in your tank? IF so this would mean they are live bearers

I had these eels for about a year and the offspring only lasted about 3 months and the parent(single) died shortly there after. I'm pretty sure they were live berthed because I would have noticed them sooner.
I'm thinking about getting some more and trying agian. I'll update you when I get them:headbang2

Your reply makes little if no sense at all.^^^^

I (tried) to say "I no longer have the eels and just recently registered. The babies died soon after they were born, I fed them BBS and some Bloodworms. The parent died after the babies. THIS ALL TOOK PLACE A YEAR AGO.

Hope this clears things up:D

Hmmm seems very un likely first off spiny eels aren't live bearers. Breeding takes place after a lengthy court ship between a pair so if you only had one eel i can tell you that it didn't breed for you. breeding is spiny eels is very difficult in captivity only a few species have ever been bred before.

A large set up with a soft substrate many plants and many eels is your only hope for breeding these fish.
