Has any one ever done this? I have a 115 gal. 60" L x 18" W x 24" T. That I have been dying to plant. It has a 35 gallon sump with over flows that I only plan on running at night to off gas excess C02. Does any one out there have a large planted aquarium with a large predatory freshwater fish? If so I would love any pictures and do you have problems with them constantly uprooting plants? And what type of water changing would be expected in a heavily planted single fish aquarium? I recently set up a planted aquarium 26 days ago the growth has been amazing here are some pictures. I would really like to have my 115 gallon looking like this very soon! Any information on people with large bass in large planted aquarium will help!

the only problem is big fish can knock over loose plants and ram them out of the ground when theyre scared

SOme have done bass in planted tanks. It works for some. RUnning the sump only at night is a bad idea tho.....the beneficial bacteria will die off n the sump. And bass need excellent filtration. What temp is the bass at now? ANd I hope you plan on upgrading that 115g. He'll need a bigger tanks eventually.

The temp is held at 82. I have has this fish for 7 months and have not had any problems. Also the sump feeds into a fluidized bed filter. I'm not worried about bacteria dying as the filter can run with or without flow from the aquarium. Also the plants help maintain water parameters tremendously. So only running lights 8 hours a day and the sump with fluidized filter the other 14 hours should be just fine. I'm more concerned about the plants than the fish. If your water parameters are working for your plants then they will absolutely be working for your fish.
