hello, i have a few questions about my 6" mono

ive noticed his color has dulled a little bit since he was 4" or so, and sometimes his black stripes will pretty much disappear. this tends to happen more when he hasnt eaten recently... they will fade to a very light grey, and you almost cant see them

i was wondering what that means?

also, since chiclids are often kept at higher ph to brighten their colors, if the same is true for bass??
also, i have other fish in the tank, so i probably wouldnt go too high with it, i just wondered what the ideal ph is to keep them healthy and colorful
thanks

I don't know about PH but most fish will lighten and darken with change in mood. My pbass get really dark after eating...

They definitely change a lot with mood and other conditions. Generally they'd show more color with a lower rph.

is he getting picked on? one of my monos got picked on by the other and his colored dulled up a bit.(in his own tank now).

the bars are based on there mood and as for ph.. cichla do better in lower ph and soft water
