I'm wanting to convert my 58 gallon tank to a single species peacock tank. I have never kept them and wondering what species and ratio would be good. The species I'm looking at is the ngra flametail, dragonblood, or mayfield sulferhead. I'm open to other suggestions. Also willing to buy several and growout before placing n the 58.

Pick the species you like the best. Do you want to keep it all male or do you plan to breed? If you plan to breed maybe you could get a male and 3-4 females, female peacocks are not usually that colorful. You can do an all male tank as well and get 4,5 or 6 of them. Peacocks tend to be pretty docile. I bred a few different species a long time ago in a 55gal I had 6 total. I always kept 1 male and all females. I have done all male tanks before to which have worked out fine for me.

Yes if you do all male you can do different speices and not have to worry about hybrids as they wont mate =)
