Hi all so my sunshine peacock female is holding eggs today! However there's no other peacocks, only mbunas in there so is it possible for them to have cross bred or did the female just produced unfertilized eggs??

It is possible, just rare. An ob peacock is a mbuna and peacock mix, just artificially bred.

Don't see why not, I have a S. Fryeri (hap) male and a P. Aurora (mbuna) female that have given me some fry. She's holding again now, but the current batch of fry are about 3/4" and 1 month since stripped. Will probably cull them all off after a while, I want to see if I can get something with a blue body, white dorsal, and yellow belly, combining all three traits from the parents.

It's also possibly that she laid eggs without having them fertilized. I have 2 C. Azureus females that I have watch both spawn and pick up eggs without being fertilized. They'll hold them for 4-5 days and then start eating again.

That's so cool lol I guess we'll see. she's still holding now. I hope I can grow those fry out I think theyll be sick haha I suspect the father is an Acei. How long does it take for the fry to grow to about 1"??

I'd guess around 3 months from time of spawn, maybe a little over 2 months if you let mom spit them. It probably depends on your water changes and feeding. I work from home and that makes it easy to do doily 50% water changes in my 20gal fry/growout, and feed them 4-5 times a day at even intervals with live or frozen brine shrimp and crushed flake. At current size of ~3/4 inch they are already starting to eat whole NLS 1mm pellet along with their krill flake and brine shrimp. Note though that if you want to keep the fry and this is mom's first time holding, you may want to strip her after 18-21 days or so. I would get a sponge filter and set it up in your main tank for now to let it start growing bacteria, and then when you are ready to strip, get a ten gallon tank and you'll have a filter ready to go.
