I was wondering, cichlid of the same kind eg: green terror don't look all the same. some GT look better than others. I pretty sure it happens with peacock bass too. what do yo think?..
Also, I love the color green on peacock bass. Which species do you think is the greenest one?

Just like dogs, cats, snakes etc....Each group of fish will have its runts and show stopper fish. Its just the luck of the draw. That's why you'll see people buy atleast 3 or more fish of the same type. The more you have the easier it is to pick out a Grade AAA fish out of the bunch as they grow out.

For greens you cant go wrong w/ most wild cichla. Occels, mono's and orino's are some of the more common green cichla you'll find. And wild cichla will generally have your most vibrant colors. NOt always.....look at the F1 bahia kelberi for example...pure gold :)

Like gangster said, out of a batch of fry you will end up with runts, etc. IME you have a good shot of getting a good quality fish as far as growth and color if you buy the largest/ most dominant fish from the brood. This im sure is in no way a rule, but from what i have experienced it raises your odds.
