Hello would like to do a 50/50 blend of Peacock Bass and Oscars in my new 450 gallon. What do you all think far as numbers of each?

Thanks

depends what peacock bass if you get temensis you could do maybe 3 and 5 oscars but if you do something like kelberi you could do 8 kels 8 oscars

Three is a very unlucky number with oscars. If you are going to have multiple oscars you need to have an even number. As oscars pair off they have a tendency to become aggressive toward single oscars.

I would dump the tems and the zully's and just keep mono's, ocell's and orino's. I would also get either Peru Oscars or Colombian Oscars and skip the walmart/petsmart/petco oscars.

Just three is a bad number, in most cases. Five will work, so will seven and so on. With a 450, the oscars will have more then enough room to roam.;)

when you have that big of a tank its not so much a question of how many fish can you have as much as a question of how good your filtration is.

What would you recommend for filtration? Thinking of tying 2 x Eheim 2260s in with a large sump thinking 100-125 gallon with a Hammerhead pump.

Thanks for all the info as this is my first monster tank and all the info is great.

would go for a bunch of canister filters like Fx5s but whatevers the next step up and buy 4 maybe even 5 of them

This is in no way cost effective or effective when compared to a 100+ gallon sump with wet/dry filtration. A good 100+ gallon sump can be DiY'ed for less than $300 (with a good pump.) Whereas 4-5 FX5's can cost $1000 plus.
