Peacocks stripes fading

Curious if anyone has an explanation s to why the stripes fade away then come back. Temps are pretty consistent(75-80) and weekly water changes (50%). They act fine and normal. Just curious as to why the fade.... energy? Hunger?

Which peacocks?

Fish can change their appearance (within reason) based on hunger, stress, aggression, water conditions, tank mates, etc.

Mono peacocks and my occerellis both do it. I can watch them sometime fade in and out. My guess is it's a territory thing or personal space is invaded.
