ok as the title says i want to get a pearl spotted red dragon i hav an empty 55 i want to put him in will that work for life by himself and i know theyre aggressive but i was also wondering i could put a small ray with him untill the ray gets bigger for my 200 gal

55gallon won't be good enough for a flowerhorn to live for life. I wouldn't try to keep a ray with it either. Most of my male flowerhorns have to have their own tanks by like 3-4" or they will kill all their tank mates.
there is a guy local to me that had some fh with his rays. his name is hbluehunter. look for the WA state social group and ask him how it worked. when i was at his house, it looked like they ignored each other. they were in a bigger tank than a 55 though. it looked like about a 150 (complete guess i have never seen a tank this shape). his rays were about 12" wide. it was a 4 to five foot tank and pretty tall it may have been larger. i think this setup was temp until he got his garage tank ready.
