I am trying to decide on wheter I want a pearl or marbled motoro. I know pearls cost more but they always make me . Anyway one of things I like about motoros is their personalities. For all the pearl owners out there would you say they have as much personality as a motoro or are they not as owner responsive? Nothing like walking up to your tank and having a ray swim up the front glass begging.

Mine is a pearl cross but i find they are the same mine is very responsive to me and food.

I think it may vary. It all depends on the individual ray. I'd say get the species you want and if you can gauge the personality of the ray based on the person you buy it from, that is your best bet.

Yes, but all freshwater rays came from the sea originally and where land locked. I don't think its too big of a stretch to think that motoros land locked in different areas could have evolved different patterns better suited to their enviroment.

Since pearls are not even a described species it would be hard to know either way.

Disclaimer: this is all just my opinion

very very interesting concept though johno.... could it be possible that there color/pattern variance comes from there surroundings to camo themselves as a defense against predators... interesting!!

Not much difference in price with a good marble and a pearl to much surply and not enough demand for pearls
Pearls I find are more aggressive than marble I have seen 6 inch disk pearls bully adult p14 of 16 inch disk at feeding time
