hi to all experts and non experts

i'm thinking of getting 2 of them. now , how big can they get? and how's the temperament?
can you sex them at about 4-5"?
i'm gonna put them in my community tank with 3 small festaes, 2 cubans, and FH, will they be ok? it's a 180 g tank with heaps of rocks and cover.

thanks:popcorn:

a 180 is two ft deep, 14 inch fish fits in a tank 24 inches deep

I think Japes means they are going to kick the crap out of each other when they get big. :)

Indeed they do, but having 2 Pearsei with 3 Festae, 2 Cubans and a Flowerhorn I wouldn't be so sure. It's probably doable but I certainly wouldn't.

Pearsei are a much bigger fish than most other 12"-14" Centrals too.

I don't think Pearsi will do well in that mix. They aren't very aggressive. My Pearsi is one of my most mellow fish. Sure he's a big guy but not overly aggressive at all. I'd be careful with that mix.

Pearsi can definitely handle themselves, they get absolutely huge. Fairly tempremental feeders when they're young. Probably one of the most bulky commonly available CA's out there.

I would start out with a group of 6 juvies if you can find em' and thin out to a single specimin based on coloration and growth - 2 is a no go in a 180. Unsure of their breeding behaviors.

I have one still at 4-5", but it is a very mellow peaceful fish, gets picked on occasionally, but never is the aggressor

i had 4 young pearsi killed by a young nic my covicts are cool but the dominant little nic killed all 4 of them they were in a 55 with lot of hiding spots 4 nics 3 inches 4 pearsi 3 inches and 5 convicts about 1 inch

in about 4-6 months i'm going to be adding my what is now a 2" pearsei to my 120 before i upgrade to a bigger tank.
i've been looking into 7 x 2 x 2's, i hope i GET ER DONSKIS

with a big barred midas
synspilum
argentea
dollars
plecs
jd and likely some other vieja and paratheraps.
maybe even more amp. type fish.
