I have a tank dedicated to loaches. Mostly clowns. My PH is very high at at least 8.0 and so I was going to add peat moss to my filters but wasn't sure if there's a too much or too less amount I should add. I'll be using 100% natural, no additives brand. Any suggestions?

High 7s into the 8s isn't considered high pH....pH becomes a factor when it dips below 6. BB grow in pH levels above 6...if the pH drops below that, a potential BB die off can occur and the tank will cycle. A more active water change regimen will offset the potential high nitrates and pH in tap water. It's my opinion that your pH isn't high for Clown Loaches and the hassle of figuring out how much, when to change it out and where to put it make it an impractical solution to a minor issue.
Bear in mind, peat will hold on to and become suturated with whatever it obsorbs, the releasing it back into the water column...much like carbon will do.
My humble advice would be to tighten up on your water change regimen, add drift wood as a buffer and make sure your substrate is neutral and not adding to the pH level.
And get a new, up-to-date test kit....and relax...your pH isn't off the charts of "normal".
