Does anyone here us Peat Moss to lower the pH of there water. I have read you can use it in several places but have never used it myself. Any info on it?

i dodn't but i have read it to i want to try but not sure if it works that well i know your sappose to put it in the filter.

I use it on some of my tanks. I just get a "filter bag" and place peat in there and then put it in my canisters. It lowers PH safely IMO and does it over time instead of one big shock (which is what you want, a gradual decrease). I replace mine every few months, because I believe it wears out over time. I got a big bag of it, I think its called Laguna or something, its meant for ponds.

They make a pond specific kind? I always thought you could just use the peat moss sold at all garden supply centers for gardens.

Yup... I have a pic somewhere hang on a sec....

Looks like this.

You can just go to the garden shop, but you have to read the labels. Some of them are treated with chemicals. I just put some in a filter bag and put it in my sump. It works great and my Discus love it.

buy organic. i'm going to start using some. i have a small layer at the bottom of my tank right now, but thats it.
