Can I run the water once slowly through peat to lower PH before i make the water change? I have a PH of 8 from tap water. How much do you think that PH goes down when running through peat once?

I also have a GH of 16 which i can lower a bit by resin ion exchange. Is this good? Also my KH is 3. I want to lower PH mainly because I want to breed bristlenose and heard that they only breed in PH of 7 or lower.

Personally I would not mess too much with ph as it always fluctuates and causes more problems than it is worth.

If you really want to lower the use ro and re mineralise back to what you need, if fear that peat is going to be all over the place.

Bristlenose may néed soft water but they also need stability, once they get going they will not stop. (one of my favourite fish)

so with ph 8 they do breed? Also about hardness what is the ideal? mine is 16.

About peat i can put fine filter at the end so that it will not get loose.
