I noticed about a week ago some "blood red" marks around the base of my Jag's Pec fin (right side), and was curious if anyone else has seen these on their fish. The temperment is still there and all seems to be well with the swimming pattern.

I've increase water changes and raised the water temp to aid in healing (if it's possible).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Any other tank mates. Been a long time since I had a jag...don'trecall any red on it at all. Did he scrape against something?

Mine had red right around the base of his fin. I didnt do anything differently and it went away.

Red streaking on the base of a fin can be the first sign of hemmoragic septicemia, a bacterial infection, the cure for this is a antibiotic such as tetracycline in the water for 10 days. use sponge filters and water changes to keep up with the ammonnia during treatment as you will want to bypass your filters or the meds will kill them.
