My senagul has a stunted pectoral fin, and my friend has this same problem with one of his. I didn't even notice until he was already in the tank, but it doesn't really seem to bother him. My question is, is this deformity normal? Is it normal for bichirs (particularly senagul) to have a 'shrunken' pectoral fin while the other one is flawless?

Pics would help us understand the situation more..:)

well since it's probably a birth defect, or could be due to injury when young, it's not 'normal' per se. But it's not gonna bother it one bit, so all will be fine :)

well.. at least u noe u have a really really cool sen.. :)

"Senegal," not "Senagul."
