I was just wondering is there a big difference in the more expensive cichlid pellets and the cheaper cichlid pellets. Currently I am keeping an Oscar in a 6ft long 100 gal aquarium. Currently he gets a variety of frozen food in the morning, pellets at night, and live shrimp once a week. I also have a 150 gallon aquarium that I would like to put a black nasty (Nandopsis haitiensis) in or something along those lines. I just want to make sure that I can provide the best diet possible.

wow an oscar in a 100g all by himself. Umm I tend to really like the hikari stuff. I have used HBH krill pellets and it seems they really like that, but I think that is mostly the krill. Personally I am just going to stick with hikari

Read the ingredients. If it has a lot of filler like corn and wheat (also the binding agent) I tend to try to avoid it.

Most use fish meal, the more expensive use whole fish.

Variety is key, so you'll be fine.

Also look for spiralina. Very healthy for the fish. Like Modest_Man says, read content and make sure its clean like.

would be very cautious about adding a black nasty too tank unless you're moving the oscar out

a good variety is always good for fish. Look at the label and look at the first few ingredients, it should be fish meal and 3 other pure ingredients then vitamins , nd then just a few fillrs. it should never be fish meal, corn wheat, or something like that. also look at the protein and fat %. For treats and such i would try krill, fish love it and its very good for thm.
