I’d just give them a mix of floating pellets and sinking pellets. May take a day or 2 of fasting but not difficult compared to other fish.

Yes. I’m sure they can smell it. Gotta be patient.

If your feeding them live, feed them one fish at a time while you stand beside the tank. Eventually it will be waiting for you to drop the next one. Then occasionally begin to chuck some pellets in between fish. Ween the fish out over time and you should have it.
