I'm still fairly new to keeping these guys and was wondering if pellet training was common? My silver aro will definitely eat live food, krill and frozen food. I've had him for about a month now so I think he's hearty enough to train him on a more common staple.

Are the krill the floating ones? If so, it'll take pellets in a day or two.

Silvers are EXTREMELY easy to break onto floating pellets. Its in their instinct to feed from the surface.

Yes, it's the floating Krill. It's been a couple of days now and I think he's going to crack soon. When I come up to the tank he's starting to act like an oscar; begging for food.

So he'll eat the krill but not pellets? Does he bite the pellets? Are you feeding floating pellets?

Just keep feeding pellets and offer no other foods, eventually the arowana will eat the pellets. This is a baby or small aro isn't it? I have had better luck with breaking up large pellets then feeding the small pellets, they end up being a little softer for the aro.

There are many people who would disagree with this statement. LoL

Just keep feeding pellets and offer no other foods, if the arowana is healthy eventually it will get hungery enough to eat the pellets. This has taken upto three weeks for some silver aros.

Fair enough. That's my experience anyway lol

Maybe its just when compared to tigerfish... lol

Yes, the pellets are floating and yes, it's just a baby, probably 4 - 5 inches or so? I think I'll try feeding the large pellets, I'll probably soak them in water for a few minutes to soften them up a little
