Just had a barramundi(sea bass) and i have 2 small azul(in a separated tank which is pellet trained when i just bought them)...i just tried putting in the baby azuls in with a 4+" barramundi and the barramundi starts chasing them, thinking it was feeders....i was wondering how do i trained my carnivores fish into accepting pellets and not becoming so aggressive?

I hope you have more luck than I have in trying to change the carnivorous instinct. :D

The only time I had any type of success was when I kept the carnivores fully feed, mainly with beefheart. I was able to have them take quality pellets but only when they were very hungry.

Not being familiar with barramundi, you may have success, but don't be surprised if they follow their instinctual ways.

Oh....but why does garlics works? Im curious...just read some post in the internet about garlics too..

I'm pretty sure its the scent of garlic that initially attracts the predator to try and take a bite to see what it is...

Worked for me on quite a few occasions with picky puffers

I had a warmouth that wouldn't pellet train even after a month with only 3 non-pellet feedings and 10 other fish eating pellets all around him(her?), I tried flake food. he ate flake 2 days in a row then started eating pellets.

dude barrimundis are easy to train mines ate hikari floating pellets within two weeks never had to starve him. He was about 1.5" then ate pellets around 2" after two weeks of having him. All i did was feed him market shrimp. I would cut it really small , long and lengthy like the floating pellets. Then slowly added in massivore sinking pellet chunks making it stick with the shrimp. After he had a few taste of the massivore in the shrimp i threw in pellets since he would follow my finger and he would hit the floating pellets. But the thing was since i use to feed my fish guppies, i saw if i cut the shrimp the same size, when you throw it in it will fool predatory fish into thinking its a feeder especially if you have a powerhead. just from my experience :) sorry if its hard to understand hope that helps a bit
