sup guys im new to this and i hope i get some good feedback. i have 2 4-5 in Jaguar cichlids with other fish, red devil, 2 convicts, 5 star jewel, red devil/convict hybrid all in a 55 long. i know its allot but i do weekly water changes and i got them all from the same breeder. ok so with the problem, i want to pellet train my jaguar but i dont think he likes it i throw in some new life spectrum sinking 3mm pellets but he dosen't even bother eating them all my other fish eat um but not the jaguars! :( the previous owner said there pellet trained but idk? i have feeder guppies and i throw some here and there but i dont want to feed them that too much. can some one help me with this what should i do?

stop feeding feeders and only fed pellets for 1 week he will eventually eat my jaguar learned to eat new life spectrum he only ate hikari now he eats whatever

How long have you had them? Most of the Parachromis I've kept tend to start off shy. Maybe they're just not comfortable in their new home. Give them some time. They're not gonna starve themselves.

Well your doing a alot of things right but there is just some things wrong. First off Weekly water changes and being aware that feeders are no good are both great starts. The problem Is tank space you are way overstocked imo. Your bio load is not a problem if you keep up on water changes. even at very small sizes American Cichlids need their space if they are to grow and more important eat. Stress is most likely your problem. It may not show and some may disagree with me on that. You need to either upgrade to another very large tank or thin the stock. It may be hard epically living a place like Hawaii to do that but its one or the other and even the 55 wouldn't be a large enough home for even 1 Jaguar. Temporarily you can do a few things. add clay pots and drift wood to create territory's where your fish feel safe in but make sure to break up sight lines so as not to add even more stress by making your fish stare right at someone else while they are in their home so to speak. try feeding blood-worms with pellets like floating cichlid goat or azoo 9-in-1. This has worked for me in the past and should work for you. Goodluck with everything

i had the same problem with my jaguar too but i think he is eating the pellets when i don't know as i don't see him eating....the only act when i was sure he eaten was when i throw a small red plattie in my tank and after a short time with the lights off the plattie was just with a half of his body so the only one who could broke the plattie in two was the jag so i knew he eaten something ....you can try this too if you are afraid to don't starve him as i am scared too as he don't eat anything or at last i don't see him i hope mine would not die by starvation
