i started pellet training this little guy (6.5in) and it's been a week and a half and he still won't go for the hikari sticks. I caved yesterday and bought shrimp and shoved the pellets in that but he ate one that was stuffed and the other one he shook the pellet out before he ate it. did I mess up? should I just have kept starving him? did that bring me back to square one? I just can't stand not seeing him eat lol

tbh i just fed my jar shrimp and prawns and then i was feeding my barramundi pellets and the jar just swooped in and ate but i tried starving him didnt work

i'm finding he likes things that sink. i have floating pellets, what's a good sinking pellet? damn I was just at petsmart....

If he's taking food that sinks try break a massivore pellet up see if he takes it , mine will only eat hikari floating sticks and can't find big bags so its costly tried loads of diff pellets and ways of feeding him over the years but he just spits pellet out , so I just stick to prawns muscles and whitebait

A person on this fourm buys small fish and stuffs it with pellets maybe try that

Soak the pellets with the shrimp to get some of its flavor. See if that works.

My jar would spit out pellets if its not soft

thanks for the advice. my lfs just has a huge $30 bag but I found another sinking carnivore pellet. used that a few days and got no reaction from him. just some curious flybys nothing more. but today he finally took a swipe at one. he spat it out but that's progress right? I need him to get on pellets because the frozen bloodworms are alittle expensive. those cubes are like ice cream to this guy.
