So I picked up 4x wc lake diamantes monos from snookn21 a couple months ago and have been feeding them bloodworms and fd krill because I was extremely busy with school and work. Now that it is summer vacation I decided to commence the pellet training. I trained my kelberi to accept pellets this exact same way.
Prior to today I would always drop their food in the exact same spot, so they know that's where the food will be and congregate there when they see me near the tank.
I start with one cube of bloodworms, I allow it to thaw in a small cup. After it thaws, I put 5 hikari aro sticks in the cup and mash it in with the bloodworms. (The ratio between aro sticks and bloodworms will increase as they become more used to the taste) Then i take that same spoon, scoop up a bit of the mix and dip it into that same spot. They were not attacking the food like normal today because they are probably afraid of the spoon, but in time they will learn to associate it with food. Eventually they should be trying to bite the spoon to get the food off of it.
