Hi MFK I cannot seem to find a pellet training thread for fish. Can someone point me to a collection or lets start one here :D

Post what you have done or have heard that works to "pellet train" any fish. Could be wild, weening off live or just a stubborn fish. What have you guys done to get a fish off of a certain food that'd may be not as good or just want to switch over.

Thanks everyone on mfk!

Bump even though there is a cichla one and getting off live feeders but i think this thread still has some discussion potential. For other fish that need to be pellet trained and not just off live. Like i have an eel and wild crencichla that i'm having trouble getting on pellets only frozen blood worms, i even tried real worms and red pellets nothing. So what have people done for other fish.

Agreed other threads already, Step one, Stop feeding them, Step two Stop feeding more and feed only food you want them to eat, step three keep holding out, step four hold out more, step five keep feeding what you want them to eat and guess what they will eat it. The End

A trick that works for me with pellet trainning is to stop feeding for a day or two then give them the pellets . Usually they eat it cause their hunger .

I'm assuming these tricks work for all fish? I've got several marine fish that are being stubborn about pellets. They take shrimp and tilapia but will only look at the pellets floating down.

My cardinal didn't eat for two weeks because he refuses the pellets. The clowns go nuts for them. I don't get it.

Does chewing it up and spitting it in the tank really work? It sounds less than appetizing (for both parties) but I'm desperate...
