+1 usually they will eat them no problem if not then give it a few days and it will warm up to the idea. All of my WC bichirs accepted pellets right out of the bag. if your poly is for some reason really stubborn though you would try and cut the pellet up and stuff it in tilapia, and as you keep feeding it that each feeding increase the amount of pellet and decrease amount of tilapia. (doesn't have to be tilapia it can be some other foods). What size are you looking to pellet train?

Good advice from Dr. B, also you could try soaking the pellets in an attractant like garlic, thats the only way my palmas buettokoferri will eat a lot of pellet. Or if its stuffed in tilapia.

THey are currently small... maybe around 3-4 inches long? Is it good to train them to eat pellets at a young age?

Yeah it may be a little better, but at least for me they would readily accept them at any size so it doesn't really matter. For them I'd start them off on shrimp pellets or something then start getting different types the hikari, NLS etc..,

When i started with my delhezi, i divided the small hikari carni sinking pellets into bite size bits, took em easily with no probs at all :D

When my Sen was small I just fed him shrimp pellets and now that he's fully grown he eats Massivore. They should accept whatever is given to them that they can fit in their mouths.
