I recently started to get my RBP and GATF (separate tanks) to eat some pretty standard Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets. Should I continue to feed them this or is this not a good diet for my predatory fish?

I think most people around here will tell you that Hikari puts fillers in the food and that new life spectrum is the best (outside of homemade) avail. fish food on the market. I use both, my LFS doesn't carry NLS, so I'll use Hikari sometimes. NLS smells 'fresher' (if fish food can be fresh) and seems of higher quality, but when my cichlids are inhaling pellets, I doubt they appreciate the finer things.

This question will spark a huge debate... like usual. The fact is that your fish apparently are pellet trained and this is a good beginning. A good quality pellet provides many of the necessary elements to a fishes diet. Its up to you what brand you use and all the hype from one to another.

+ 99 Billion.

My gatf LOVES Hikari jumbo carnisticks. After he started taking them, he won't even go after the goldfish I put in the tank for my buddy's scomb.

hikari is better than some, worse than others. I make hikari cichlid staple and cichlid gold a part of my fish's varied diet.
another word for filler would be fiber.
