I fed mine hikari cichlid gold. Same stuff I feed my tropical cichlids.
They took to pellets really fast. I didn't have problems

My pumpkinseed and baby marbled bullhead takes NLS cichlid formula pellets.
My baby SMB, won't really take NLS any more, but is loving Tetra Jumbomin sticks I got for free from a friend.

Mine eat Omega 1 and hikari cichlid gold mixed together. The hybrid didn't like the hikari at first but now he doesn't care. I might have to buy the bucket of pellets this summer it's cheaper than the little containers.
I used to feed my green sunfish cichlid gold. Now I have her on large custom made growth formula flakes and she's growing faster and has better color with these.
Probably, lol. My friend makes them to sell at his fish store so I doubt he'd tell me, I could just go out and sell them myself if he did.
