ooo i suggest a sinking pellet. Hikari is a readily available brand.

Try to feed them some frozen beefheart and if they readily take it, then start mixing the pellets with the beefheart, and eventually take the beefheart out of the question then you are golden. Or just keep using the beefheart. its good for them too

Sinking pellets are easier (Hikari or New Life Spectrum). Transition them to frozen first (I prefer shrimp, squid, fish fillet, etc. over beef heart) and then start mixing in pellets. Just be patient with them, they can go quite a while without food when you are training them :)

thanks,,fed them bloodworms and they went nuts for them.will mix pellets with them I think for now and see how it goes...about how many tablets a day should they be eating or should I not feed them till every 2nd day once the pellets becomes their main diet? thanks again for all suggestions

New life spectrum, hikari like suggested and raw shrimp.

More variety the better. & no need to try to sneak pellets in their diet. Wait a few days, they eat em right up, nightcrawlers, silversides, krill, pellets, fillets, ect should all be in their diet. 2 year old rbp should be bigger than 5"

I used to feed my piranha dried catfood. They liked it but I dont recommend it because its to messy. They didnt eat pellets any type.

time for an update..been 3 weeks without goldfish, feeding mainly large shrimp and bloodworms..last 2 days they've gotten a taste for eachother's fins and tails though with 1 sporting a nasty bite to his back just infront of dosal..all but 1 has dorsal or tail or both damage

sending out now for the silversides.local shop doesn't have them in stock. but think i will ween them off goldfish slowly..as I said earlier I bought this from a friend who said he had fed them nothing but gf (20 of them once aweek)for the 2 years he's had them.thinking I should have expected this...reason I want to change is I've read gf are not good food for various reasons and maybe this contributes to them being smaller in proper size for age
