Anybody that is lucky enough to have gotten their alligator gar onto pellets have any suggestions? At what size should I start trying to get him off of live feeders? What brand works best? What is the best method to switch them over (preferably other than starving)?

Ok I have just heard back from omega one and nls. Both of them said that their experts believe that their pellets with be unpalatable for an alligator gar. Does everybody here feed their gars Hikari then? Any other brands I'm missing?

It's easier to get them on the Hikari pellets, but they will take NLS eventually if you're persistent; NLS is probably the best pellet, too, so it's worth trying to get them on it.

Whom did you speak with at New Life?

The gar below was raised on NLS by a buddy of mine.

LOL, true enough. He was in a 600 gallon comm tank with Asian aros & other assorted fish, and the owner fed heavy to keep everyone from killing each other.
