I have three adults. I keep them mixed with South American cichlids. They will tolerate a wide range of temperatures. The person I got them from was keeping them in the 75F range but bred them in really warm water, 84 - 86F. I keep mine at 80 - 82F and they do well. I think they're too old to breed now though. They're the largest ones I've seen with the male at about 7" and the females probably 6".
Mine eat pretty much anything. They're also really peaceful, mixing well with things like severums and geos. I've seen mine chase each other a bit but they don't really interact with my other fish.
