I've had a penguin 350 running on my 29 since December, recently it vibrates and makes alot :irked: more noise. I cleaned it out and removed what little java moss had gotten trapped around the impeller, but it didn't really seem to help. I didn't see any wear or damage to the impeller at all and it has me stumped as to why its so loud. There wasn't anything down into where the impeller sets either. Anyone have experience with these? Is there anything else I need to check or adjust? Also isn't 6 months too soon for an impeller to go bad? :( The filter still runs at normal flow it just vibrates and is so loud now it has me worried.

Might be trapped air. Inspect the impeller where it goes into the housing closer for more moss & debris. Sometimes it looks like you got it all out but it's not!

You may want to replace the whole propeller. It may hae air on it or more likly the cord to it is rubbing aginst something.

mineral deposits will eat away at the impeller leaving a gap between the impeller and the housing. may need a new impeller, or just need to be cleaned

i got 2 penguin 350s and sometimes the lid will start to vibrate on em, which does sound like the impeller but its not. tap on the lid or bio-wheel cover to see if it stops, if it does put something on the lid to keep it from vibrating(like a rock or a knick nack).
