Hey all,
Just was wondering what kind of media to put into the media cartridge for the marineland penguin 350? More carbon? marineland diamond blend? any recomondations?

Um I would go with either 2 choices
First you can put filterfloss, or the bluebonded stuff. I would ditch the carbon cause its useless and a waste of money. You only need carbon for removing meds or tanins. I had filterfloss in my pengiun and it works good but you constantly have to clean it every so often cause it cloggs your filter fast. As of right now I have the blue bonded stuff in my penguins cartriges.

Second choice is you can get these http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4136+13374&pcatid=13374
IMO these are the best you can possibly get for your filter. But I think they take up all the room in your penguin so you will only have these cartriges in there. But these are great, I have a set on my emp400 and its working great.

Since you live Hawaii I dont think you can find the supercartriges SC5 down here, you might have to order it off of the site above.

You don't really need carbon, like he said. Put some filter floss in it, but you will need to change it pretty regularly.

I use 2 of these filled with Seachem Matrix:

And then two of these for just the sponge, or when I need the carbon:
