I work at a petsmart (yes i know :banhim:) and this couple comes in looking at CA/SA cichlids. They said it was their first time keeping them etc and they wanted 2 tiger oscars. I was like well what size tank and explained 2 fully grown oscars would require abouta 125 gallon tank and a ton of filtration. They had a 30 gallon uncycled so I told them that I wouldn't sell them to them and even if they found a manager I wasn't giving them a return guarantee (said it nicer than that just saving time) and talked to them for a solid 30-45 minutes about cycling and then after the cycle was completed how a breeding pair of convicts or a firemouth would last much longer in their tank and were really good cichlids for somebody trying to start out with south americans with that size tank, basics to keeping them healthy blah blah blah.

Well they told me they were gonna do some other shopping and come back, so while I had to go sell somebody a hamster, they went to my other co-worker, told her they had a 125 gallon tank waiting and that their 30 gallon was fully cycled, and when she got them the 2 baby oscars they made sure that she said that they could have the 2 week live guarantee. :irked: I hate people sometimes. They basically took all the information I gave them about what should be done to keep them healthy and told the girl I was working with everything that I said.

I too work at petsmart in the petcare dept. Its the people who shop there that gives very knowledgeable associates bad names. The sad thing is there really is nothing you can do about. Stupid, ignorant people will always be around to not take any of your advice. The guarantee should require us to test the water params first. It would literally save the company millions of dollars and deter rtards

yep. funny thing is he kept trying to tell me he knows what he's doing because he works at a pet store. The place he works is your typical puppy mill garbage corner store that smells absolutely horrible with jacked up prices. Their tanks all have ick too except for 2, their angelfish tank and discus tank. -___-

Then why wouldn't he have bought it where he worked? He probably would get a discount for working there.

x2 sounds a little fishy to me.

ive been to that place once. their oscars are literally 20 bucks

Retail is no place for a high horse. Refusing service is the opposite of why you were hired, and your days are numbered if people start getting the manager.

I suggest not working with animals.

:iagree: not a smart move, if you care about your job. Places like Petsmart or more concerned about making a sale, instead of doing the "right" thing.
