When the weathers nice out and everything is great . My jurense catfish will stay in the shallow section of my setup . Right at the point where it transistions to the deep side. And if it rains he goes deep. Ive noticed this over the past couple months. But he didnt go deep when it snowed this winter.

Isent the tank at one temp all the time ??
He could just not like the light as much and he is a catfish and they do like deep water , could just be that,
Dav.

nope lighting dont matter. As long as the weather is nice outside. he sits right at the point where my tank gets deeper.

right here where the transition from shallow to deep is his normal hang out spot. day or night.

it makes sense cause in the wild for fish they like to hang out on the drop off then when it gets weird out..they just dive

Its a barometric pressure thing, I think weather loaches are very sensitive to it also, hence the name. My juru does hang sometimes at the top and sometimes at the bottom, I'll have to watch and see if it coincides with the weather. Today it is nice out and he is hovering in the current at the top.

I don't have a multi-level tank but my RTC is always more active when the weather is nice out, even if he's been well fed he will be cruising the tank lazily looking around.

Cool im glad other peoples cats are doing the same thing. Ive never had a multi level tank in the past where there was a depth change so i was never able to observe this before . Makes since what the fishing shows say about the catfish siting at the front leading edge of scour holes in rivers and lakes. Might be something to think about next fishing trip if theres a storm comeing in.
