i have 4 - 2-3" dovii.
i plan to only keep 1 male of the 4 and i just need to know if i'll need like a 200 gallon one day or even bigger?
a friend of mine had his 16" dovii in a 130 gallon,
would you recommend a larger tank?

180 is the minimum, your friends Dovii must not be able to turn around very well. Good luck with the male.. I bought 3 and all were female.

currently my dovii are still small, but haven seen a 18" dovii in a 180, youd be better off with a 240. these are massive fish that deserve some swimming room, and also are very smart and tend to get bored in small tanks which leads to a fish that doesnt live up to its full potential.

his water had a sudden nitrite spike after he did a water change and he put it
in his 240 gallon but it died shortley after.

i plan to have a 200 gallon in months to come.
what size sump would you recoomend?

Most will say 180 minimum but since there top water predators a 140 would be better and a 300 would be awesome you'll enjoy your fish more in a larger tank

I'm sure you meant 240 :)
