uploaded a pic in case people know it by a different name, been really really trying to find these guys. does anyone know what season they become available? or where has them? I'm on the waiting list for them at liveaquaria, but they haven't had em for months. either kind, the smaller or larger any info regarding special requirements or diet is greatly appreciated

I see them for sale from time to time on liveaquaria...oops just reread your post sorry.....never had them can't offer any help.

They can be tough to find at times not sure when most places get them however. They prefer a very low pH around 5 or 6 and I've heard that they've been found in as low as 3. If they're wild caught it may be hard to get them off live. I fed mine mostly frozen foods like blood worms, earth worms, brine shrimp and occasionally guppies. They don't live very long about 2-3 years and seem to have sudden deaths( mine was fine one day and dead in the morning no signs of injury or sickness and water parameters were good). Overall a very interesting mini predator

oh wow that is a very short lived fish, they are very wild. If you go on youtube and find a slow motion video of feeding theyre mouths extend so far its nuts. I breed livebearers for feeders so i have a steady healthy live feeder source for fussy fish like that. I would for sure be doing a species tank for them if i can find em. Probably the prettiest mini preds ive ever seen

Yeah its a shame that they have such a short lifespan they're one of my favorite predators. I saw that YouTube video once it really shows just how fast they are.
