Perch ate bichir-try to remove or hope for the best? (pic included)

Should we just let him go or try to remove the fish. I'm worried about the spines on the bichir. I'm also worried about the perch over eating. I just fed him a few pellets 15 minutes ago. Thanks in advance!

i'd say remove. don't wanna risk losing that beauty
 
My girlfriend was already removing it when I went into the room. She got him to cough it back up.

Removing was the right choice. I assume the poly is dead?

The perch looks fine, the bichir..........not so much.
