has anyone ever kept of is keeping them...i would like to keep some and can't find any information on them about keeping them in a tank...a few questions i have are:
1)what size tank do i need?
2)what are the water parameters they need?
3)are they aggresive at all? and
4)is it hard to train them onto prepaired foods or are prepaired foods out of the question? thanks in advance

1.Perch do get big I would go with something like a 75. I feel a 55 wouldn't be wide enough.
2. Keep the temp around 65-70 they don't need a heater water temp isn't a huge issue.
3.They are not aggressive mine was picked on, but they will eat anything that can fit in their mouths.
4.They are pretty hard to train to get onto flake it took a while but mine did accept tetracolor and hikari gold overtime. When I was converting him over I fed him grubs and bloodworms. He was small when I got him around 5'' and I had him in with a rosy barb, a raphael, and a spinny eel. (He wasn't picked on by those fish) LOL it was my small SA growouts that did it. I was feeding tetracolor and he took a liking to it. They should accept cichlid flakes as well.

My perch or let me rephrase that the perch I did have were not aggressive at all and my bass beat them up pretty bad. I have had a perch for almost a year now on goldfish flakes then I got Larry my bass and now the perch is in his stomach.
