could a fit a perch or two in a 55 gallon for life? most likely they would be in there alone, i greatly like the idea of going out catching a fish and putting it in my tank, if not perch what native fish can i keep in a 55?

If yellow perch, then yes.

i would have to disagree...they get too big. i wouldn't do it.

nice, we have one who says no. however if there going to be too big there supposedly good eatin haha

Yellow perch grow to an average adult size of 16" and can reach 19"-21"(rarely). That's too large a species for a tank that's only a foot in depth (front-to-back).

yellow perch? Just how big do you expect yellow perch to get?

They can easily reach 12"+ given proper care. I've seen a few up to 15" and maybe even a bit bigger. Generally, about 10" is the biggest fish you would want to house in a 55g.
