Iv never kept brichardi before, at first i thought i could have a group and watch them group breed. But after what iv read, id need to pair them out from a group. Is that the case ?

Im pretty unsure how many i should purchase "/

You could either start out with a pair or buy a group (6-8) juveniles and grow them out until they pair up. Rock work is recommended. Be aware that they do dig a lot. Also they can make life miserable for other fish in the tank when they spawn.

Buy a group they will pair off but like Joe mentioned once they have fry look out the males become very aggressive. You need lots of rock work and open spaces for them.Once they have paired up bump the temp, starve them for a few days, and at the end of the 3 day fast feed them a high protein diet like brine shrimp etc, and do a large water change .This can trigger a spawn this is one way there are many others also.

the sure fire way to get a pair is to buy 10 little ones.... make sure u get rid of all the fish once u get a pair... they will kill the others... make sure u have a big tank like a 120 or 180 to limit aggression between male and female... u may have to separate them after they spawn
