Hey guys....As some of you read, my Top Fin 125 stand got wet and I'm completely uneasy with it right now, so I'm planning ahead.

My friend and I talked about building a new stand, but that won't be done any time soon as we live a food ways away from each other and weekends are hard to meet up on.

So I'm looking at other stands. My lfs has this stand, along with Amazon and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if it would be better than the cheap Top Fin particle board I have now? Thanks! Here's the link....

Adam, I saw your original post on this and IMO, you're stressing unnecessarily. Wasn't it the doors that swelled slightly? The doors offer no structural integrity to these stands. It would take wetness for a long time for particle board/MDF to turn to mush on the structure part of the stand. FWIW, all my "wood" stands are MDF and they've been in constant service for 4+ years w/out issue. (one 55g and one 29g). My other stands are metal.

The stand in your link above have some 'real' wood and some MDF IIRC. Nothing special. Nothing I'd pay $250 for.

I over stress. Probably doesn't help reading so many people dissing the top fin stands. I understand the concern though and it really made me nervous.

Mine has the door and front right support leg that got wet and swelled just a tad. There's 2 photos there.

Now that it's dry, I wouldn't worry about it. Take your time and watch CraigsList for a nice old school stand. There's an outfit by me that advertises on CL and makes custom stands. Problem is, even a basic one for a 4-6ft tank is $600-800, but they're all wood and built real well.
