Hey y'all,

I am setting up a new 110gal (tall) tank. Both tank & stand are from the perfecto / marineland company.

My question is can I set the tank directly onto the stand? Or should I put a piece of plywood down first? Foam pads? Etc...? There was no instruction to do any of this from the manufacturer but I know it's something many of you routinely do. What's my safest bet? Notice in the pic that the tank isn't supported along the entire bottom- just on either end & in the middle. Did they design it this way on purpose for some reason?

You can put in on the stand as is and you will be fine. Some people go further but in the end whos to say that joe shmos guess that plywood and foam will help is better than the engineers who designed the stand

I don't put any of my tanks on foam, though I know many people on here like to. The main thing is to make sure everything is flat and level so the tank isn't being torqued in any direction once full which can eventually cause the glass to crack or burst.
(Before the tank is filled) Your stand shouldn't wobble and there shouldn't be any gaps around the bottom. The tank should also sit flat on top.
As long as the tank or stand aren't defective and you have everything on a flat and level surface you shouldn't have any issues.

Do these perfecto stands tend to come pretty flat as is? Or do you usually have to shim them to get them right? (floor not withstanding)

I've had several over the years and have never had to do any shimming of the tank and have never used foam on any of them. The floor is another matter and I HAVE had to do shims there on occasion.
